Friday June 26, 2026 at 11 AM (meet at garden entrance).
Experience Literary Longwood on a travel collaboration between Huxley & Hiro and the Women’s National Book Association.
Spanning more than 1,100 acres, Longwood Gardens features breathtaking seasonal displays, stunning architecture, magnificent fountain shows, and peaceful landscapes to explore at every turn.
As a special highlight of WNBA's visit, we have arranged a private tour of Longwood's Library and Archives, a behind-the-scenes area that is not accessible to the general public. The Archives preserve Longwood's rich history through original blueprints, historic photographs, property maps, recordings, artifacts, and institutional records spanning decades. Since access is normally available by appointment only and many materials are carefully protected due to their rarity and significance, this is a unique opportunity to gain an insider's perspective on the history and legacy of Longwood Gardens.
If you're wondering whether the drive is worth it, the answer is a resounding yes! Visitors travel from across the country and around the world to experience the beauty and wonder of Longwood Gardens. Hosted by Librarian Gillian Hayward, our exclusive visit to the library will explore its rare book collections, origins as Pierre du Pont’s personal library, and role serving researchers and the public.
Whether you're a gardening enthusiast, a history lover, a library lover, or simply looking for a wonderful day out with friends, Longwood offers something for everyone. Come discover why it is considered one of the premier public gardens in the world and enjoy an exclusive experience that few visitors ever have the chance to see. We'd love to have you join us for this special outing!
Our day begins with access to the gardens beginning at 10:00 AM (timed entry tickets required, not included with $15 purchase), followed by our 11:00 AM meet-up for the library tour at the Longwood Gardens Library and Archives.
After the library tour, we’ll gather at the café for lunch. Attendees may also make their own lunch arrangements at another Longwood Gardens restaurant (reservations required for 1906). Cost of lunch is not included.
After lunch we have full access to wander the gardens on our own and depart at our leisure any time before closing at 9:00 PM. Fountain shows in the Main Fountain Garden and the Open-Air Theatre begin at 11:00 AM, and they are mesmerizing!
